Debate pulls no punches
March 25, 2007

The candidates for state Supreme Court argued over conflicts of interest and ethical questions at a debate Monday, two weeks before voters select one of them for a 10-year term on the bench. Madison attorney Linda Clifford upbraided Washington County Circuit Judge Annette Ziegler for ruling on cases involving a bank Ziegler’s husband helps run. Ziegler fired back that Clifford would have a conflict of her own if she were elected because the Supreme Court is likely to consider cases that could provide windfalls to trial attorneys such as Clifford’s husband. The winner of the April 3 election will replace retiring Justice Jon P. Wilcox. The race is non-partisan, but Ziegler has aligned herself with Republicans and Clifford with Democrats.

Read here why big pharma wants Ziegler to win and how they are said to support her.
